By November 9 this year, the city had reported 728 malaria cases and 172 chikungunya cases.

Delhi has recorded a significant rise in malaria and chikungunya cases this year, marking the highest levels seen in the past five years, while dengue cases have notably declined, as per official data.

Up to November 9, the city reported 728 malaria cases and 172 chikungunya cases. For comparison, Delhi saw 228 malaria cases in 2020, 167 in 2021, 263 in 2022, and 426 in 2023. These figures include 19 new cases recorded in the last week, according to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s weekly report on mosquito-borne diseases.

Chikungunya cases in previous years included 111 cases in 2020, 89 in 2021, 48 in 2022, and 65 in 2023. As of November 9 this year, the number has surged to 172.

Dengue cases, however, have shown a notable decrease. So far in 2024, Delhi has reported 4,533 dengue cases, including 472 in November. In 2023, the city recorded 9,266 dengue cases. October saw a particularly sharp decline, with cases dropping from 2,431 to 1,052 by September.

The Shahdara South zone recorded the highest number of chikungunya cases at 87, while the City SP zone had the most malaria cases, with 104. The highest number of dengue cases were reported from Central Delhi, totaling 490 cases.
