
Considering the consistently rising pollution levels in Delhi, the government has decided to revise the working hours of employees in government offices. As per the new schedule, municipal corporations, Delhi government offices, and central government offices will operate at different timings.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi shared this update on Thursday, stating that the move aims to reduce traffic congestion and pollution. She also announced the revised timings:
1. Municipal Corporation of Delhi offices will operate from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
2. Central government employees will work from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
3. Delhi government employees will work from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

GRAP-3 Restrictions and School Closures in Delhi-NCR
With the average Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching a severe level of 424, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has enforced Stage-3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR. In light of the health risks to young children, the government has decided to shut schools for students up to Class 5 until further notice. Online classes will continue for these students.
CAQM’s Recommendations Under GRAP-3
The public has been advised to take the following measures:
Opt for walking or cycling for short distances.
Carpool wherever possible.Use public transportation.
Consider work-from-home options if permitted by employers.
Halt construction activities and other pollution-causing operations.

Delhi-NCR residents are facing respiratory issues due to rising pollution levels. Prolonged exposure to polluted air can lead to serious health conditions, including respiratory disorders, heart diseases, and lung infections. Initial symptoms include eye irritation, redness, and itching, which have become increasingly common.

Experts suggest checking pollution levels before stepping outside. Long-term exposure to air pollution can severely impact the respiratory, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular systems, increasing the risk of chronic illnesses and even mortality. Vulnerable groups, such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly, need to take extra precautions to safeguard their health.
