Due to severe air quality conditions and dense smog enveloping Delhi and nearby areas, travel disruptions impacted flights and trains on Thursday. Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) surged past 400, reaching 432, after similar levels were reported the previous day at 429. The low visibility from pollution and cold weather has led to delays across transportation modes.
At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, at least ten flights were diverted on Wednesday morning, with nine rerouted to Jaipur and one to Lucknow due to foggy conditions. On Thursday, low visibility protocols remained in effect at the airport, though operations were otherwise normal according to DIAL.
Train schedules also faced setbacks, with at least 12 trains—including the CSMT ASR Express and Malwa SF Express—running over an hour late approaching New Delhi. Passengers were advised to check with airlines or the railway for updated travel
