Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged Sanjoy Roy, a former contractual staff member of the Kolkata Police, with the rape and murder of a female doctor who was on duty at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The agency is set to present the chargesheet in a special court in Sealdah later today.
According to officials, the incident occurred while the doctor was resting in a seminar room during her break. The chargesheet identifies Roy as the primary suspect, with testimonies from around 200 individuals collected during the investigation. The CBI is still examining the possibility of other suspects being involved, raising questions about whether this was a gang rape incident.
