A significant encounter has been reported between security forces and Naxalites in the Abujhmad area, a Naxal-affected region bordering Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh. According to reports, five Naxalites have been killed by security personnel during the operation, and the encounter is still ongoing. Sporadic gunfire continues between the two sides, and security forces have launched a search operation in the area.

Automatic Rifle Recovered by Security Forces

During the search operation so far, security forces have recovered an automatic rifle. There are also reports of several Naxalites being injured in the clash. On the other side, two policemen have been wounded and are being evacuated from the encounter site as part of a rescue mission. The exchange of fire between the security forces and Naxalites is still underway, with intermittent gunfire being reported.

Search Operation and Strategy

The encounter began after security forces received intelligence about Naxal presence in the northern Abujhmad region. Acting on this information, a joint team of DRG (District Reserve Guard), STF (Special Task Force), and BSF (Border Security Force) launched a search operation around 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. As the operation commenced, an encounter broke out with the Naxalites.

Objective of the Mission

This encounter is part of an ongoing operation conducted by a joint team comprising DRG, BSF, and Maharashtra’s C-60 Commandos, aiming to capture Abhay, a central committee member of the Naxal organization.

The gunfight, which began around 8 a.m., is still ongoing at the time of writing. Security forces are employing strategic measures to encircle the Naxalites, making the situation highly dynamic.
