The CRPF paid tribute to the families of fallen personnel at a memorial event, honoring their bravery and contributions while pledging continued support for them.
On Saturday, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) held a ceremony to honor the families of fallen personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The tribute event took place at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi as part of CRPF’s commemoration activities associated with Police Commemoration Day 2024.
“The families of CRPF’s valiant martyrs were our esteemed guests, and senior officers placed wreaths in their memory at the memorial,” a CRPF spokesperson shared on Sunday.
During the event, CRPF’s Director General (DG) and senior officers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the families. School children also participated, engaging with awardees of the Shaurya Chakra and Gallantry Medals before embarking on a guided tour of the memorial. The tour highlighted the legacy and contributions of police forces, with a special focus on CRPF’s service.
With a personnel strength of nearly 300,000, CRPF is India’s largest paramilitary force, actively involved in counter-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, counter-insurgency actions in the northeast, anti-Naxal operations in left-wing extremism-affected areas, and other law enforcement roles.
During the 2024 Independence Day, CRPF received the highest number of gallantry awards among all forces, totaling 52 medals—25 for counter-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, and 27 for missions in areas impacted by left-wing extremism.
