
Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir has seen the second day of a confrontation between security forces and terrorists. The security forces have successfully neutralized all three terrorists. Earlier, officials reported that one terrorist hiding in a village in the Akhnoor sector was eliminated during the renewed encounter on Tuesday morning. The forces launched their final assault against the terrorists concealed in the area.Further details indicate that two terrorists had already been killed, and they were hiding near the Asan Temple in the Jogwan village forest. Efforts were ongoing to eliminate their third accomplice. On Monday morning, terrorists attacked an army ambulance that was part of a convoy near the Line of Control (LoC). One of the three terrorists was taken down by special forces and NSG commandos by evening as the operation commenced.Officials noted that around 7 AM, the final assault against the hiding terrorists was initiated, leading to a resurgence of the encounter. Before the second terrorist was killed, there were over an hour of explosions followed by intense gunfire.They also reported that sporadic gunfire continued with the trapped third terrorist. During the operation, Phantom, a four-year-old army dog, was sadly killed by gunfire. For the first time, the army deployed four BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles for surveillance and strengthened the perimeter around the attack site. Additionally, helicopters and drones were dispatched to locate the hidden terrorists.
