PM Modi Affirms Government’s Commitment to Future-Ready Skills Training for Youth Empowerment
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underscored the government’s commitment to equipping young people with skills that are globally relevant and future-ready. Speaking at the Skill Convocation Ceremony, he expressed optimism about India’s young professionals making a significant impact in the global workforce. This focus on skill development aligns with India’s ambition to rise as the world’s third-largest economy.
India’s growing reputation as a hub for skilled talent is being bolstered by its young workforce, whose expertise and scale are increasingly recognized. Modi reiterated that the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is actively working to empower youth with relevant skill training, viewing skilled youth as a key driver of India’s progress and a valuable asset to the nation.
Jayant Chaudhary, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, discussed India’s robust skill development system, which includes 15,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) recognized for their reliability. He highlighted the crucial role these institutions play in shaping young talent through rigorous assessments designed with state government collaboration. For the first time, ITI advancements have been given priority in the Union Budget, reflecting the government’s forward-looking vision for India. Chaudhary emphasized the importance of aligning ITI training with local industry needs to ensure skill development remains relevant and practical.
To further support these initiatives, the minister encouraged companies, MPs, and MLAs to participate in enhancing ITIs. This collaboration aims to ensure that skill training is impactful and meets industry standards, ultimately improving the quality of training offered nationwide.
Through these efforts, India aims to solidify its position as a global leader in skilled talent. The government’s focus on empowering youth with internationally competitive skills and addressing local industry requirements is expected to contribute to economic growth and strengthen India’s global standing. This commitment to skill development is a crucial part of India’s broader strategy to become a leading economic force on the world stage.
