In the US election run-up, Trump has claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping would “bully” Kamala Harris “like a baby” if she were elected, as his allies continue to infantilize her. Trump has leveled a series of personal insults against Harris, calling her “lazy”—a term historically used to demean Black individuals in racist ways—and labeling her a “stupid person” while questioning if she’s “on drugs.”
In a recent interview, Donald Trump asserted that China’s President Xi Jinping would treat Vice President Kamala Harris “like a baby” if she were elected to the White House. Speaking with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump mocked Harris, saying Xi would “take all the candy away very quickly” and likened it to “a grand chess master playing a beginner.”
Trump has often targeted opponents with nicknames and insults, a strategy he famously used in his 2016 campaign against rivals like “low energy” Jeb Bush and “little” Marco Rubio. His comments about Harris, however, have become especially personal, with accusations of her being “lazy,” “stupid,” “slow,” and having a “low IQ.”
This new wave of attacks comes just days before Election Day. Trump didn’t hold back during a rally in Tempe, Arizona, where he criticized Harris’ stance on immigration, accusing her of “a wicked betrayal of America.” Later in Las Vegas, he compared her approach to tax policy to “a vulture” picking people’s pockets.
Harris has responded by calling Trump “increasingly unhinged and unstable” and referring to him as a “fascist” during a CNN town hall, citing reports from his former chief of staff that Trump praised Adolf Hitler.
At a rally in Georgia, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson added to the rhetoric by suggesting Trump was ready to punish Harris, telling the crowd, “Dad is pissed, and when dad gets home, you’re getting a vigorous spanking right now.”
