BEIRUT: Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people, with 41 others injured, according to Lebanese sources.
The sources, who wished to remain anonymous, reported that Israeli aircraft carried out 16 air raids on southern Lebanon and an additional nine raids on eastern Lebanon during the afternoon and evening, causing significant casualties. Among the dead and injured were civilians and military personnel.
Six Lebanese soldiers were among the wounded, having been injured in an Israeli drone attack targeting a military checkpoint at the Hosh al-Sayyed Ali crossing in eastern Lebanon.
Lebanese Civil Defense officials informed Xinhua that an Israeli strike demolished a three-story building in the village of Karak in eastern Lebanon, resulting in nine deaths and 14 injuries.
“Civil Defense teams, along with the Lebanese Red Cross, managed to recover five bodies and rescue eight injured individuals from a building destroyed by an Israeli airstrike in the town of Rayaq, eastern Lebanon,” the sources said.
Additionally, seven bodies were recovered, and 13 injured people were found in the town of Mahrouna and the village of Maifadoun, both in southern Lebanon, as reported by local sources.
These airstrikes are part of an intensifying conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has seen a sharp escalation in attacks since late September.
