Messi

Lionel Messi delivered an incredible 11-minute hat trick, helping Inter Miami secure a 6-2 victory over the New England Revolution and setting a new Major League Soccer (MLS) record for most points in a single season. The match, held at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, saw Miami finish the regular season with 74 points from 34 games, narrowly surpassing the Revolution’s previous record of 73 points set in 2021.

Luis Suárez played a crucial role in Miami’s comeback, scoring twice within four minutes after they trailed by two goals just 34 minutes into the game, keeping their quest for the points record alive.

However, it was Messi, the team’s captain, who solidified Miami’s place in MLS history. Coming off the bench, he immediately assisted Benjamin Cremaschi to give Miami their first lead in the 58th minute. From the 78th minute onward, Messi took charge, scoring three goals in rapid succession, marking his first hat trick for the club and becoming Miami’s all-time top scorer with 33 goals.

Inter Miami also became the first MLS team to have multiple players score 20 or more goals in a season, with Messi and Suárez both reaching the milestone. Despite finishing second in the Golden Boot race behind D.C. United’s Christian Benteke (23 goals), Messi led the league in combined goals and assists, contributing 36 in just 19 games.
