Lebanese state media reports six buildings destroyed in airstrikes on Beirut; one person killed, several injured in attack on Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen office.

Lebanon’s state media reported that Israeli forces launched 17 airstrikes on southern Beirut suburbs on Wednesday, destroying six buildings and hitting the vacated offices of a Hezbollah-affiliated broadcaster. This followed Hezbollah’s rocket attacks on central Israel as the country observed the Simhat Torah holiday.

AFPTV captured footage of a large explosion, followed by several smaller blasts in the area, which is a Hezbollah stronghold. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had issued evacuation warnings earlier through social media, particularly for the Laylaki suburb, where six buildings were flattened. Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) described the strikes as some of the most intense in the past month, calling them “the most violent in the area since the war began.”

Despite prior warnings, an unexpected strike also hit the Jnah neighborhood, targeting an office of the pro-Iranian Al-Mayadeen TV channel, which had reportedly been vacated. The broadcaster held Israel responsible for attacking what it called “a known media office.”

Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed that the strikes killed one person and injured five others, though the identity of the deceased has not been disclosed.
