Leavitt is set to become one of the youngest individuals to assume this significant role, representing the White House and addressing questions from the press.

WASHINGTON: President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Karoline Leavitt, a 27-year-old spokeswoman for his campaign, will take on the role of White House press secretary.

“Karoline is intelligent, resilient, and has demonstrated exceptional communication skills. I am confident she will excel at the podium and effectively convey our message to the American people,” Trump stated.

Leavitt’s appointment makes her one of the youngest individuals to ever hold this high-profile position, serving as the public face of the White House and addressing the media on its behalf.

During Trump’s campaign, Leavitt served as national press secretary and welcomed her first child in July, just a few months before the election, she shared on a Fox News podcast released Friday.

Leavitt previously worked as an assistant press secretary during Trump’s first term and later ran for a Congressional seat in New Hampshire in 2022, though she was not elected. Additionally, she has experience as a communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whom Trump has chosen to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

In a podcast interview, Leavitt reflected on her background: “I didn’t grow up in a political family. I come from a typical middle-class business family here in New Hampshire. My involvement in politics started during my time at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.”
