Acclaimed filmmakers Raj and DK are preparing for the release of their action drama ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, a spin-off of the American series ‘Citadel’, which stars Priyanka Chopra. In a recent interview, the duo revealed that Joe and Anthony Russo, known for their work on ‘Citadel’ and the Marvel franchise, have watched their 2018 horror drama ‘Stree’, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao.
Raj Nidimoru mentioned, “I believe they had seen a rough cut of ‘The Family Man’ before its release and also watched ‘Stree’!” He added that the Russo brothers were familiar with more of their projects, although he was unsure if ‘Shor in the City’ was among them.
Raj also noted that the Russo brothers reviewed edits of ‘The Family Man’ during its production, as Prime Video provided those cuts. While they encouraged the duo to maintain their creative style, they also stressed the importance of aligning with the broader narrative they envisioned, requiring a balance between unique storytelling and fitting into the larger universe.
Krishna DK added that in their discussions with the Russo brothers, they made it clear that they did not want the Indian version of ‘Citadel’ to mirror the original. Instead, the Russos encouraged Raj and DK to pursue their own creative vision and develop the show based on their ideas.
‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, features Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles and will be available on Prime Video.
