New Delhi [India], October 19: Abhyuday Jindal, the Managing Director of Jindal Stainless Limited, has been appointed as the new president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a prominent national business organization.
This announcement was made during ICC’s annual plenary session, held in New Delhi on Friday, where Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal served as the chief guest.
In his address, Piyush Goyal welcomed Jindal’s appointment and underscored the importance of young leaders in shaping India’s future. He encouraged the Indian Chamber of Commerce to expand its focus on supporting startups, women entrepreneurs, and India’s evolving startup ecosystem. He emphasized utilizing government initiatives to boost skill development and employment for the country’s youth.
Goyal also spotlighted the tourism sector, urging ICC to use its influence to promote India as a global tourism destination while linking local talent with international opportunities.
He stated, “India’s story is glowing brightly, and the world is taking notice. This is the moment for us to act. By reforming, performing, and transforming, we can join forces with the industry to create new avenues for the middle class while uplifting the underprivileged and enhancing their living standards.”
Goyal further called on citizens to devote part of their lives to serving the nation, emphasizing that this collective effort is key to achieving the vision of a prosperous and dynamic India.
In his first remarks as ICC president, Abhyuday Jindal shared his aspirations for the organization, expressing his dedication to driving economic growth and innovation through ICC. He acknowledged the crucial role the chamber has played in India’s economic history and pledged to strengthen its position as a key player in fostering inclusive growth and sustainable business practices.
“I am truly honored to lead the Indian Chamber of Commerce, which has been instrumental in shaping India’s economic development for almost a century. My goal is to enhance ICC’s influence in promoting economic growth and innovation,” Jindal said.
He further stated, “With my experience across different sectors, I aim to promote sustainability, drive inclusive growth, and advocate for policies that support Indian industries on a global scale. Together, we will work towards building a resilient economy, supporting India’s goal of becoming a USD 35 trillion economy by 2047.”
Jindal, a graduate of Boston University with a background in Economics and Business Management, brings extensive expertise in project management, supply chain optimization, and strategic leadership.
Under his leadership at Jindal Stainless, the company has seen considerable improvements in operational efficiency and a transformation towards sustainable growth, the release stated.
His commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and community development will guide his leadership at ICC, where he seeks to drive dynamic policy advocacy and collaboration within the industry.
The event also featured a discussion with Antonio Bartoli, the Ambassador of Italy to India, who emphasized strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Italy. He highlighted the need for international cooperation to secure trade routes and promote cultural exchanges, especially in light of recent geopolitical shifts, such as the Red Sea crisis.
In addition to Jindal’s appointment, the session marked the induction of other leaders into key positions within the ICC. Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Shyam Metalics, was named Senior Vice President, while Parthiv Vikram Neotia, Executive Director of Ambuja Neotia, was appointed as Vice President.
