India’s key batter, KL Rahul, had to retire hurt after being struck by a short-pitched delivery during the Indian team’s intra-squad practice game at the WACA, as they prepare for the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).

Rahul was seen leaving the field in visible discomfort, accompanied by the team physio. Photos of his departure quickly circulated online, with fans expressing concern over his form and fitness.

The first Test in the BGT series is set to start on November 22 at Perth’s Optus Stadium. Rahul’s recent performances have drawn criticism, especially following his struggles in the home series against New Zealand, where India suffered a 0-3 loss. In that series, Rahul’s only Test appearance came in Bengaluru, where he was dismissed for scores of 0 and 12, leading to his omission from the remaining two matches.
